Sovchose Iskra in Belarus, Region of Gomel
Feasibility study and project management planning of a bio-gas production and utilization plant (Combined Heat and Power Station) using agricultural wastes and liquid manure; preparation of the overall design, the books of tender, and of a financing model.
The project will help to transfer the technological knowledge of Bio-gas-production and utilisation for generating electricity and heat, to all Belarus.
The immediate goal is:
to help the agricultural companies to work more economically, to save imported energy, to establish a self supporting cycle in agricultural production, to reduce the green house Effect through the reduction of methane (CH4) and CO2, being released into the atmosphere.
To erect a demonstration plant for the initiation of Bio-gas usage.
The Bio-gas-plant processing 100 tons of raw substrate per day, with about 94% of the produced Bio-gas being converted into electrical energy and heat via a two-engine set up. The plant will supply Iskra with electricity and heat, the surplus electricity being fed into the existing grid.
The cattle slurry gained is an ideal fertiliser which enhances the fertility of the soil, a healthy flora, and thus the cultivation of healthy plants. Additional fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides are practically no longer required.
In contrast to raw slurry, Bio-gas slurry can be sprayed onto the crop during the growth period of the plants which can extract the nutrients whenever they need them most. Moreover, far less nutrients will be lost due to leaching.
Pollution of ground- and running waters is considerably reduced.
